90 Day Challenge, Traffic

Welcome Back! If You Enjoy This Post, Make Sure You Subscribe To My Free Newsletter To Get My Blog Posts Delivered Straight To Your Email Inbox From Now On!

I probably should have jumped on this last week, but I was busy in other aspects of my business…

Last week my mentor, Alex Jeffreys, put out a friendly competition for his students – whoever brings in the most traffic to their blog, wins $1000. Simple right?

Instead of writing how I’m going to drive traffic to my blog, I decided to say it. Watch it here on my 90 Day Challenge, Day 15, “How I plan on driving the traffic to my blog.”

After thinking about it, I decided to go ahead a write a couple things down anyway…

(Just a little recap of the video)

Here’s A List Of How To Get Internet Marketing Traffic To Your Blog:

  1. Twitter

  2. Using Twitter as a vehicle for driving traffic is GREAT idea, but like all social media communities, you should never try ANY direct selling.

What do I mean by direct selling? Well, you can’t go out and say, “Hey GO here and Buy This!” and expect people to hand over their money. Doing this is social media suicide.

Instead, drive the traffic back to your blog.

Think of your blog as your virtual home. Invite them over and let them get to know you. Here is where potential customers will know, like, and trust you.

When done correctly, people will buy from you without ever having to sell to them.

So how to drive the traffic?

Well understand this, Twitter was based on the concept of “What are you doing?” So tell them..

“I just finished my latest blog post about ABC, you can check it out at XYZ.com…” or “I was just reading ABC at XYZ.com”

Remember not to be so pushy, let it be more of an invitation.

If you haven’t already, sign up for Twitter here: http://Twitter.com

    And follow me here http://Twitter.com/AlexLimInc

  3. Videos

  4. I project my videos to be another main source of traffic. If you’re not using some sort of video marketing, you’re missing out.

I personally use Traffic Geyser for all of my video marketing needs.

You can produce a single video, upload it to Traffic Geyser, and it’ll submit it to almost 50 different sites, including video hosting sites, blogs, podcast, and social book marking sites.

You can get a 30 day FREE trial here http://trafficgeyser30free.com/

  5. eBay

  6. Okay, this platform is probably the most underused platform of driving traffic to a website… period.
I don’t even sell ANYTHING on eBay, the only thing I use eBay is to post in their classified ads… that’s it.

The one thing I want you to understand is this, eBay is a place where you can direct sell. When you’re on eBay, your mind is already trained to be looking for something to purchase. The only reason someone goes to eBay is to purchase something, think about it.

    You’re in that buying mindset…

Note the differences when your searching for a product on eBay rather than browsing around and socializing on Twitter.

Go ahead and set up an eBay account, it’s free! http://eBay.com

  7. Article Marketing
  8. Articles is probably another source of an underused marketing strategy. The one thing you should take away from this is that articles are free to post, and they stay on the Internet FOREVER. You will forever generate FREE traffic for every single article you write.

I would suggest you try out http://ezinearticles.com/. That site is probably the biggest article directory site on the Internet.

They actually provide you with a FREE training newsletter to get you started in article marketing.

  9. Blog Commenting
  10. The last method I’m going to be using is through blog comments. You’ve probably noticed even on comments on this blog, when a person post a reply, to a post or comment, their own name links back to any website they choose.

    Try it out.

That’s it for now,

    Hi Alex,

I’m curious about ebay ads and how effective they can be. I’d be interested to know more about it if you have time to share.

Never heard of Traffic Geyser though, sounds like a very interesting way to spread videos around.

    Hey Alex,

Some good stuff there. I have never used the eBay classified ad section so would be interested in a video on it and how effective it can be to drive traffic, increase signups etc.

I got my first batch of articles back to start building my EzineArticles account as well so I will post about that on my blog next week. Pretty good quality and around $3 for 400 words, can’t really argue with that.

I’ll tell you this. I haven’t put a ad up for my network marketing niche since I started AJ’s course (I wanted to stay focused), but I converting much higher from prospect coming from eBay…

I really believe it’s because of the fact, people on eBay, come to buy. You do not go to eBay, just to browse around, socialize, a read up on news – you’re there to purchase something.

This is why I like the traffic from eBay

    Hey Alex
This is very intersting stuff. Traffic Geyser sounds interesting and I think it just scares the hell out of me. I mean how can I do a video. You are good in your videos. If I do one it will probably look like some cheesy video. Well maybe I will try it I just got to get the guts to do it. It sounds like a real good way to drive traffic though being that the video gets sent out to multiple sites and social media outlets.

    Alex,

You’re a natural in front of the camera. If you haven’t already done so, go to http://tv.winelibrary.com/ Gary V started just like you and now
has millions watching every single day.

Keep up the great work… Not sure about the kissing in the vid… lol.

    THANK YOU ROB!

You know I heard of Gary V sooo many times before, but never really
sat down and watched his stuff. To be honest, that’s such complement
to even be somewhat compared to him ;)

Anyway, I just took a look over there, and WOW, I can see why many people
    watch him.

I see he uses Viddler… I’ve actually noticed many people switching over to Viddle
for business needs. I’ve also noticed that they can accept videos a lot longer than
10 minutes! That’s one thing I would like to look into!

It’s funny, when I first started doing video I had a hard time getting 2 minutes out,
and now I have to struggle to get under 10 minutes!

about the kissing part… it was unscripted! ;)

  8. Chris Kilber Says:

I have to agree with Rob. You do have a great video presence. Much better than I do, but I think we as humans are our own worse critics. I’d like to add that another way to potentially attract traffic or at least engage your readers longer is to ask questions. Challenge people to explain why they think or opine the way they do. We are great at answering what but not so much of why. Why causes people to think a little harder and opens up their thoughts and causes them to open up. People are attracted to where people are open and share their thoughts. This may not be a quick process, but in the long run gives you followers who are very loyal to you.

Keep up the good work and have a remarkable evening.

    Hi Alex,

Excellent presentation on your video, it’s not easy getting the right amount of emotion into your message when you’re standing on the street talking into a camera.

I tried recording a message on the beach whilst on vacation in Thailand and people kept coming up to me and entering the shot.

They thought I was a right nutter.

Just wanted to ask about Twitter ….. How often do you Tweet to your followers and what is the mix of personal messages to requests to visit your blog?

    Speak soon

It’s always fun trying to shoot in front of a camera in a
    public place!

About Twitter…. Just remember it’s built on the concept of

    “What are you doing?”

I think if you follow that rule you can’t go wrong. ie. Right before I started
reply to this I just typed, “Replying to my comments on my blog – http://alexliminc.com
    on Twitter.

You don’t have to necessarily have to blatantly say, “Hey click here!” Which I NEVER
recommend doing, but if your comment, reading, updating, etc to a site you want
people to visit – do it in a subtle way.

If you have any other questions about Twitter, let me know and I’ll put up a blog
blog post just on the topic!
