Rich Schefren, Entrepreneurial Emergency: Uncertainty Syndrome Review

25. August 2009

Man oh man…

Sometime last week, I started looking more deeply into the true meaning of constraints, and how it related to my business…

During my search, I came across “The Entrepreneurial Emergency: The Uncertainty Syndrome” by Rich Schefren and I have to say, this FREE report has to be the MOST influential report I’ve gotten my hands on, to date.

Watch this video below, as I explain and review the report the best I can, in 10 minutes:

“Only the POTENTIAL of your business is determined
by your talents, knowledge, commitment
and the amount of time and effort you spend trying to grow it.

The ACTUAL SUCCESS of your business is determined
by your CONSTRAINTS.”

Such a SIMPLE concept. but yet so COMPLEX and POWERFUL!

I want to stir up a little question for everyone…

What is YOUR biggest constraint in your online business?

P.S. Keep in mind, I’m not making any sort of profit from this review. I’ve just received so much VALUE from Rich’s latest report, I wanted to share. Enjoy the report!

Ethical Outsourcing Model?

26. July 2009

This is going to be a quick post…

I’ve asked this question in many different places, and wanted a centralized place to view everyone’s comments.

I wanted to know YOUR opinion on allowing your personal outsourcing team access to business courses you’ve purchased.

This is just an ethical question of right or wrong…

For example, say I went and purchased Frank Kern’s Masss Control, John Reese’s Traffic Secrets, and Mike Filsaime’s Butterfly Marketing course. Would it be okay to upload these courses to a secure password protected site, having access only for my full time personal outsourced team to view and learn from?

In essence, having this be their training site, before they start their projects.

Or are these courses only meant to be viewed by a single person, versus being viewed by your entire business, including business partners and team members?

Tell me what you think, I’d like to gather YOUR comments before I post my follow-up and opinion on this matter.

Thanks
Alex Lim

Reply To John Reese’s 5 Reasons Why Twitter Auto-Follow Is Bad Marketing

17. July 2009

Last week I read this, a blog post from John Reese. John is pretty much one of the BIGGEST Internet Marketing “Gurus” today – aka “Million-Dollar-Day-Man”.

First let me start off by explaining what Twitter “auto-follow” is, then I’ll get to my reaction to all this…

What Is Twitter Auto-Follow And Why Do People Use It

Certain 3rd party clients (tweetlater) gives twitter users the option to “auto-follow.”  This means when a person starts to follow you, you’ll automatically follow them back.  You don’t have to do anything extra, it just happens.

Many users, including myself ( http://Twitter.com/AlexLimInc ) have used this option as a tactic to gain followers.

To find like minded people in the same niche as you, you would search leaders in your industry, click on their followers, and follow them.  In return, people with auto-follow enabled will end up following you. Win/Win situation right?

Wait a couple of days, and unfollow the ones who aren’t following you. You want to un-follow these people so you can start the vicious cycle over…You see, Twitter only allows you to follow 10% over the number of people following you. Once you hit that cap, you have to unfollow someone, who do you think it’s going to be?

Since you understand this tactic, you would have auto-follow enabled. This way, people doing the SAME strategy do not un-follow you. Get the picture?

Sounds daunting, but many just use bots (short for ro-”bot” software) or even outsource this repetitive tasks.

Until sometime during the last week or two, John Reese did this exact strategy – aggressively follow people to gain followers. Don’t believe me?  Check out his twitterholic numbers: http://twitterholic.com/johnreese/, in every instance until the last couple of weeks, he was following more people than he had followers. This may not be EXACT proof… Yeah, it pretty much is!

After doing this for months, John Reese just decided to un-follow EVERYONE.

Why did he do it? If you haven’t already, I suggest you read it here: 5 Reasons Why Twitter Auto-Follow Is Bad Marketing

Regardless here’s the main topics:

1. Twitter Auto-Follow Is The New Email ‘Safe List’
2. ”It’s Not Show-Friends It’s Show-Business”
3. You’ll Get Bombarded With Direct Messages That Aren’t Worth Your Time
4. Auto-Follow Destroys The Twitter Experience
5. Twitter Users That Auto-Follow Will Lose Credibility

There’s some REALLY good points in there and I’d like to know your comments on the subject. I’ve personally asked many people about this, posted this article on several forums…

I’ve received comments like, “There’s no wrong way to use Twitter” and “I think it’s nothing more than a publicity stunt”

You have to wonder though, some of the top Internet marketers do not auto-follow ( John Reese, Frank Kern, Mike Filsaime ).

My Thoughts

Personally, I’m just tempted to do the same thing, unfollow everyone I’m following and refollow only the people I truly want to know what going on with them, for every reason John stated – it just makes perfect sense to me.

Is that me just jumping on the band wagon? Hardly, I wonder how many of you reading this would unfollow every one of your followers. I can almost guarantee if you’ve used the auto-follow tactic to gain your followers you’d be scared to do so. Why? Well, because a majority, actually a VERY HIGH MAJORITY of your followers are from auto-follow.

I failed to mention, the same 3rd party client that allows “Auto-Follow” has a check box right below that says, “Auto Un-Follow.” This makes it so that you’ll end up un-following people who un-follow you automatically. There’s a good chance if you’re using one option, you’re using the other…

I did do a test this week, that I’ll share with you… To start off, I un-followed 2,000 twitter followers. The result, my following went down by 1,000… interesting

I did stop at 2,000 and I think the only reason I’m not doing the 17,000 I have left at this very moment is… social proof. I think having a large following is such a asset. The days of gathering a large following from the tactics above are coming to an end. Twitter has started to crack down on this and are suspending users who are doing this…

I’d be interested to hear your comments so leave them below.

Help For Newbies In Network Marketing

8. July 2009

So I just got off ANOTHER webinar (This one was actually Mike Dillard’s Traffic Formula 2.0)! =D

Yes, I must be on 3 or 4 webinars a week…

I truly find webinars to be the best way to fill myself with VALUE in the market place today.

The VALUE you’ll receive attending QUALITY webinars (some are just pitch fests) don’t compare to reading some outdated eBook, it’s learning REAL marketing strategies as up to date as possible! With the way the Internet works and how FAST information is outdated, live webinars are the few ways to stay ahead of the game.

Well, the reason why I’m writing tonight was because of the topics being covered.  Interesting enough, Tim Erway talked nothing directly about network marketing!  I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

You have to understand, Traffic Formula 2.0 is geared towards the network marketing niche.  During the QA session, Tim was bombarded with networkers, wondering what did the topics have to do with network market! =D

Tim talked about Internet Marketing; stuff like market research, sales funnels, OTOs (One Time Offers), self liquidating offers, funded proposal, etc – you know, the actual smart way to marketing!

There’s just too many networkers out there trying to throw up their company all over people. Newbies do not understand the entire process of marketing on the Internet…

Really it just backs me up on my thoughts I’ve had lately (you can read previous posts, if your wondering)…

I love the fact that REAL SUCCESSFUL network marketers have branched away from their network marketing company and really EMBRACED Internet Marketing.  Lets face it, I don’t care what business your in – if you’re in network marketing or not – if you want to make it on the Internet, you have to know Internet Marketing…

A new mentor of mine, Alex Jeffreys, said something on a 5 HOUR webinar last Monday (yes, I was on the call for 5 hours!) he said, “It’s called Internet ‘Marketing’ not Internet ‘Selling.’”

I only bring it up because of the HUGE percentage of networkers out there who are STILL trying to SELL they’re company…  While writing this post, a gentlemen on Facebook JUST asked me if I knew about his company…  I have a call with him tomorrow…  I can almost guarantee it’ll be nothing put a pitch fest – another networker trying to SELL me on a opportunity…   Maybe a new network marketing company just came out and it’s going to be the best thing that EVER hit the market!

You maybe wondering why I agreed to take the call, even though I have not intentions of joining his company?  Simply to help him.  This person is making a semi-cold call to me tomorrow.  If your calling people, you need help.  There’s just better ways to leverage you time – start using the technology like the Internet.  My intentions are to direct him onto an easier path.

I kind of went off topic here, but than again I’m just rambling.  This is my Journal and I can write about ANYTHING I WANT =D

Till next time!

Alex Lim

P.S.  If you’re in Network Marketing and STILL SELLING your “business opportunity” or “company” like some NEWBIE trying to make it, I recommend you pick up a copy of “Magnet Sponsoring”

I HONESTLY do not know of ANY successful networker who hasn’t read the book yet…

P.P.S.

on how to read the book ABSOLUTELY FREE*
